A member of the Choctaw Nation, Dorothy Lippert has worked since 2001 as the Supervisory Archaeologist of the Repatriation Program at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. In 2011 she was appointed by President Obama to the Advisory Council of Historic Preservation. She received her PhD at University of Texas at Austin in 1997, and worked at the Houston Museum of Natural Science before coming to Washington, D.C.
